“Monarchs of all they survey”
Projectra and Karate Kid may have resigned from the Legion, but they still get their own stories even if they’re on their honeymoon.
This time we’re not going to her planet Orando, because she decided to use the treasury to pay for a luxury vacation. I guess it’s good to be Queen.
Karate Kid’s got a point: every time he goes to Orando someone tries to backstab him!
Obligatory scene about newlyweds fighting for dumb reasons. At least it lasts barely a panel.
I find it very interesting that Projectra has proven herself to be quite old-fashioned when it comes to the idea of modernizing Orando. You’d think that the princess that left to live a life of adventure would be more open-minded to change.
But Projectra’s illusions are not the only villain of the story, because her cousin Pharoxx is using the owner of the luxury resort as means to fight her.
Still, it’s a luxury resort. It’s not like it has anything that should worry some Legionnaires.
But despite that, they still manage to get captured by flying through some clouds that are actually made of sleeping gas.
If you’re wondering just how did Pharoxx manage to get out of Orando after LSH #288, the answer is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (at least for now).
Just like last time, Pharoxx cheats by using magic.
But he still sucks at this whole dueling thing.
And that’s about it, because Pharoxx gets taken away by “his friends”.
Projectra is getting a little too overconfident, isn’t she? I mean Pharoxx is not a big treat but someone teleported into your honeymoon to kill your husband, be worried dammit!
Legion significance: 4/10
The identity of Pharoxx’s “friends” is going to be VERY important, but I’m not giving this a higher score because you can very easily skip this one: by the time the “friends” show up you’ll likely have forgotten it anyway.
Silver Age-ness: 0/10
Nope.
Does it stand the test of time? 6/10
Very forgettable and quite lackluster. This would’ve been the chance to explore Projectra being Queen, or Karate Kid dealing with how his wife is going to change… or even an exciting fight to the death. What we got was just meh. Even the artwork is a bit underwhelming, unless you’re here for some very minor fanservice.
