Superboy era

After being the backup feature of Action Comics, the Legion moves to the backup feature of Superboy, then slowly graduate to the cover story, then finally become the only feature.
Unlike previous eras, this one doesn’t have a clear separation from what follows; I’ve decided to extend this one up to Superboy #221, the last issue before the title is officially renamed “Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes”.
Cary Bates is the main writer, with a short run by Jim Shooter towards the end of this era.
This is when the Legion gains its 70s look, and the art gains a massive improvement with legendary runs by Dave Cockrum first and Mike Grell later.

Note that, for archive purposes, I’m putting some of the issues of this run under the Silver Age category.
The Legion leaves the Silver Age SOMEWHERE within this era… it’s really hard to point down.
