Legion of Super-Heroes vol.3 #21 (1986)
by Paul Levitz & Paris Cullins
This is a 5-page Wildfire & Quislet “story” with guest artist Paris Cullins, who is mostly known for his Blue Devil and Blue Beetle issues.
Should’ve been a Shadow Lass story since he’s into blue characters!
I can imagine that training with Quislet could easily be frustrating, which makes Wildfire his best straight man.
It does make sense to test what exactly Quislet can do, since he’s so wildly different from any other Legionnaire.
Though let’s be honest, this is mostly an excuse to draw crazy visuals.
It would probably flop as a series, but I wouldn’t mind having an entire feature that is just about testing the technical limits of superheroes’ powers.
But again this is just an excuse for some fun drawings, so it ends abruptly with Quislet destroying ANOTHER Wildfire suit.
Legion significance: 0/10
Quislet will interact with Wildfire’s suit down the line, and THAT will have consequences… but this is just fluff.
Silver Age-ness: 6/10
Far less content for 5 pages, but still.
Does it stand the test of time? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t think this REALLY qualifies as a story, so I don’t think it would be fair to judge it as such.
