The next-to-last Lois Lane issue… with the cover showing Wonder Woman saving her from a flying racing car.
Unfortunately what actually happens is far more pedestrian.
Be ready for Superman Marriage #2781.
We couldn’t possibly end the series without a reminder that Superman is, in fact, The Worst.
Yeah, yeah, we’ve been there before. I’ll give her until the end of the story, TOPS.
She certainly has a type… jackasses who get turned on by being treated like dirt, apparently.
But AMAZINGLY, she has enough brain cells to remember that Superman is lying ALL THE TIME ABOUT EVERYTHING.
That panel makes me wonder if the Daily Planet has an evening edition where they reveal that every single news of the morning edition was fake.
So… anyway, Superman is dating Wonder Woman now.
Whenever they do that I inevitably get this flashback from Alan Moore’s masterpiece “For the man who has everything”.
Then Lois gets kidnapped by Not Time Trapper.
Everybody knows that lie detectors are more reliable on people who are not fully conscious (WTF!?).
Since Superman has now dumped Lois, The Revenger targets Wonder Woman… and if it wasn’t for fellow journalist and boring supporting character Melba, Lois would’ve been FRIED ALIVE.
Disguising herself as Lois, Not Time Trapper tricks Wonder Woman into wearing a poisoned necklace.
I find it hilarious that Not Time Trapper was wearing a Lois Lane mask ABOVE her hood.
Also get a load of this majestic infodump!!!
I know I called Melba boring, but she redeems herself with this panel once Lois rescues Wonder Woman.
And of course it turns out that the fling was a hoax because Superman is always lying about everything.
See? Told you: end of story, TOPS.
Historical significance: 0/10
Breaking news: a Daily Planet story was a hoax. In other news: water is wet.
Silver Age-ness: 7/10
There aren’t that many shenanigans, but this is full of Silver Age tropes.
Does it stand the test of time? 0/10
The artwork is nice, but come on.
Stupid Lois Lane moment
At this point? Trusting Superman about ANYTHING he says.
My favorite SGF:LL! Something mysteriously likable about it, like an ABC sunday night made-for-TV movie. Definitely not up to movie theater quality yet just exactly right for enjoying with a Turkey-and-Stuffing Swanson TV dinner (the one with the tiny warm brownie)
