Lois Lane 78

LOIS LANE #78 (1967)
by Leo Dorfman & Kurt Schaffenberger

Second part of the story where Lois went to live in Kandor with Lana.

As soon as Vitar returns to Kandor… he’s arrested.

And his punishment is… being stuck in a tube for a week.

This must be hard for Lois and Lana. On one hand, they’re stranded in a strange place where they don’t know anybody and they don’t understand the culture.
On the other hand, women love shopping, right? *groan*

On Kandor, a computer decides your job for you. Well that’s not dystopic or anything.

This almost lobotomizes the humans. (!!!!)

Not because the computer couldn’t handle their insanity, mind you. It was sabotaged.

Once the machine is repaired, we find out Lois Lane is supposed to be Batman, while Lana Lang is supposed to be Lara Croft.

Since we’re in Kandor, we might as well use the Look-Alike Squad.
Note that there is a lookalike for Clark Kent, plus we’ve already met THREE other Kandorians who look exactly like Superman.
I’m beginning to suspect Jor-El wasn’t exactly a faithful husband.

All of this so that the lookalikes of Lois and Lana can kiss Superman.

Well that was very necessary. Say, isn’t this supposed to be a sequel to Vitar’s story?

Since they’re not giving him the time of the day, Vitar has a solution: make them compete for drugs!

Lois wins the contest thanks to Kandor-Karate!

But she doesn’t get the serum because it makes you grow feathers. Wait, WHAT!?

And so we end with Vitar getting married to the would-be assassin and the two humans go back home.

Can you believe this started with a plot about a genie!?

Historical significance: 0/10
Don’t expect Lois to show off Kandor Karate anytime soon.

Silver Age-ness: 10/10
I still don’t get why it’s so hard to leave Kandor, considering how many times they’ve done it already.

Does it stand the test of time? 0/10
At least the first part had sheer Silver Age insanity… I skipped some part of the investigation on the thief, but this was just boring.

Stupid Lois Lane moment
Leaving Earth for some guy  she just met and that she barely notices the entire time.
